Dr. Jimmy Lalkaka is a co-founder of the PDMDS. He is a specialist in Parkinson’s disease and has been a strong force in the PDMDS since its inception. . Currently, a consultant Neurophysician at Bombay, Saifee and Parsi General Hospitals, Mumbai, Dr. Lalkaka is avidly involved in the work of the Society, being the editor of the newsletter ‘Movement’, as well as, the Treasurer of the Society.

Dr.Charulata Sankhla is one of the founding members of the PDMDS. Currently, a consulting Neurophysician at P. D. Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai, Dr. Sankhla is academically inclined and has several research publications and international conference presentations to her name.  Dr. Sankhla has always been keenly interested in Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders, having obtained a Fellowship in the same from Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas, U.S.A. She says her motivation to work with PDMDS is to contribute to integrated support to PwPs.

Dr. Maria Barretto, currently the CEO of the PDMDS, has over 30 years of experience in the field of psychology and education. She brings her vast experience to the PDMDS, and has been instrumental in creating a multidisciplinary model of Parkinson’s care and applying it to the affected Indian patients in a group therapy format. This model has been an unprecedented success and it has been adopted by several other international societies. Dr.Barretto has represented the PDMDS at many international conferences and forums. In recognition of her exemplary work in improving the lives of individuals with Parkinson’s, she was awarded the Dr. Rana International Parkinson’s Community Service award in 2011. An astute planner and team leader, she possesses the ability to bring out the best from each member of her team.

Dr.Pettarusp Wadia, a Movement Disorder Specialist is a Consultant
Neurophysician at Jaslok Hospital, Mumbai & Parsi General Hospital, Mumbai. Dr. Wadia has several research projects and clinical trials to his name, as well as published research papers, abstracts and presentations, a number of which have been prize – winning at prestigious conferences. Dr. Wadia’s main interest in the field of Neurology has been Parkinsonian conditions and Movement Disorders, and he obtained a Fellowship in the same from University of Toronto, Canada. He believes that dedicating his time to PDMDS, gives him the opportunity to contribute to improving the quality of life of persons with Parkinson’s, as well as, to reach out to those who do not have access to good health care.
