Is there any minimum amount for donation?
There is no minimum amount for donation. You can donate as much amount as you want to.
Who can volunteer/ intern?
Anyone who has the interest, sensitivity and commitment to work for people with neurological conditions and/or the elderly can apply for our volunteering / internship programme. These may include students, professionals or anyone with a passion to serve the elderly and differently abled.
The opportunities offered by us are need-based and pro-bono. If you are selected, your commitment will be at a mutually agreeable time with the PDMDS, based on the organization’s guidelines and regulations. Interested applicants can submit their intent form and we will reach out to you in case of a requirement.
What kind of work is expected from the volunteers/ interns?
The opportunities for volunteering and interning at the PDMDS encompass various activities ranging from assisting in support centre activities, awareness services, fundraising campaigns, public relations and communications, administration, exploratory research, special events, photography and audiovisuals, documentation, and other activities, which match mutual interests and needs as will be further discussed with the PDMDS.
Can I volunteer to fulfil course requirements of my academic course?
Students are welcome to join the PDMDS to fulfil this requirement. The work is decided after mutual agreement with us, matching the interest and need of the organization. You can fill our intent form and also send us a mail on pdmds.india@gmail.com.
Do I need any special training for volunteering/ interning?
You don’t need a scientific or technical background to help towards providing better services to people with Parkinson’s (PwPs). Your personal interest in the cause is what counts.
The PDMDS will provide an orientation to introduce you to your role and the nuances of the condition before you start volunteering / interning.
What can I expect out of volunteering?

Can I contact your beneficiaries and stakeholders to sell my products?
As a non-profit organization working for people with Parkinson’s and providing free of cost services that has specific results and impact, we are unable to participate or promote in commercial activities. We do not encourage promotion or sale of any products or services to our beneficiaries through our platform.
I have some used items. Can I donate in your group?
We have a limited need for donation in- kind. However, if you have any items which you would like to donate, you may contact us on pdmds.india@gmail.com stating the item, it’s picture in its present condition and we will get back to you. If you are inclined to support our activities, we appeal to you to go to our donation page- link to donation.
How does CSR partnership work?
The PDMDS offers free of cost services to its beneficiaries. For scaling and sustainability, we welcome partnerships with government agencies, funding agencies, corporates, academic and research institutes and other non-government organizations. Can I donate in Cash?
You can donate cash up to INR 2000. All donations above INR 2000 will be accepted only in cheque or through online transfers.
Why do I need to give PAN card number?
Giving PAN CARD number is a mandatory requirement for all donations as per Income Tax rules.
May I know how my donation will be used by PDMDS?
The PDMDS is a charitable organization striving to improve the quality of life of people with Parkinson’s. Your donation will be used to provide education and rehabilitation, free of cost, as well as to provide medication and assistive devices to those who cannot afford the same. It will also help us in our activities like awareness campaigns, capacity-buildings, caregiver support etc.
Can Foreign Nationals/NRIs receive a tax exemption certificate?
All donors get certificate of tax exemption of section 80 G in India. Foreign donors will get receipts but will not get tax benefits of their country.
As a volunteer, can I work with the patients individually/ professionally as a psychologist or physiotherapist?
Our psychologists and physiotherapists work with our beneficiaries. Since our activities and services require specialized training in Parkinson’s care, we do not permit our volunteers or interns to work on a one-on-one basis with our beneficiaries. Our volunteering opportunities are limited to assisting at support centres, awareness and fundraising campaigns, communications, administration and research.
Can I use the information given in this website for publication and dissemination?
Any information materials and resources published on our website is the intellectual property of the PDMDS. For any publication and dissemination, you need to seek permission of the PDMDS and provide acknowledgement of the source (Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorder Society), if approved. How many days does it take to receive a receipt/tax exemption certificate of donation and how will I receive it?
All donations are entitled to receipts depending on the donated amount to tax exemptions. Receipts for direct online payment are generated immediately and mailed to the donor. For other mode of payments, receipts are generated within 10 days of crediting in the PDMDS bank account. Receipts can be collected personally from our office or can be sent to you via post on the address provided by you.
