While PDMDS is an all-India organization, in keeping with its objective of information dissemination, the society has bearings Globally. PDMDS is linked with other similar organizations and professionals, nationally and internationally, so as to facilitate exchange and support.

Global Declaration

PDMDS hosted the 7th World Parkinson’s Day International Symposium in December 2003, in Mumbai. A significant outcome of this symposium was the launch of the Global Declaration on Parkinson’s disease by the Working Group on PD, formed by the WHO (1997). The Global Declaration was launched by Mrs. Mary Baker (Chairperson, EPDA). Essentially the Global Declaration calls for the commitment to provide patients with Parkinson’s Disease access to appropriate and affordable medical care and treatment; to encourage partnerships between scientists, doctors and healthcare workers to improve the care of patients with Parkinson’s Disease; and to raise public awareness of Parkinson’s Disease. It has signed by professionals working in the field of PD, prominent industrialists and celebrities across the World, in a show of support and solidarity.
